Mission

Our Mission is to connect what is learned in the classroom to the real world. The learning program provides extensive opportunity to make education relevant through "discoveries outside the classroom." Through an expeditionary learning approach, educational concepts are made concrete and reinforce the necessary relationship between actual experience and education.

Discovery Charter School, located in the West Parkside area of the city, is surrounded by beautiful, scenic Fairmount Park.-State of the art facility, with multi-purpose area that is on highly requested. -Area for student engagement. -Expeditionary curriculum included with expeditionary travel to instate and out of state and country trips. -Rigorous curriculum aligned to PA standards, -Updated technology with IPADS, ChromeBooks, SMART Boards, and a MAC Lab.-Strong and consistent Parent Association. -High rate of teacher certification.

We strive to maintain positive climate and positive relationships. Discovery Charter Schools exert positive influences on student behavior despite conditions in the home, community, social status, gender, race, or ethnicity. Discovery Charter positive school climate on school culture and is the responsibility of the adults. When this happens it actually has the potential to plant the seeds of cultural change back into the community because students from the school culture interact with the community culture when they are not.
