Mission

The mission of the Jenks Academy for the Arts and Sciences is to ensure that every student is inspired and prepared to be a passionate, lifelong learner. We believe that a rigorous STEAM-fueled (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) curriculum celebrates the joy of inquiry and sparks analytical thinking. Coupled with strong community partnerships and a supportive and encouraging learning community, an Arts and Sciences education will nurture children to become productive, invested participants in a local and global community.

Points Of Pride

Staff attendance 97.3%; student attendance 96.8%. 92% of graduating students continue on to special-admit high schools. Two active parent organizations: Jenks Home and School Association and Friends of J.S. Jenks. Jenks Arts and Music (JAM) Program partnerships with the Crossing, World Cafe/Live Connections and the Philadelphia Opera Company; STEM Program partnerships with NASA, the Franklin Institute, Dow, the Academy of Natural Sciences and PECO. Algebra 1 and Keystone testing in 8th grade.

Admissions Policy

Students must live within designated catchment boundaries; students may apply to a school(s) outside of their neighborhood and will be considered via lottery based on a available space.
