Student Achievement
Raw data measures student performance on standardized tests. Not all schools take the same standardized tests. Direct comparisons between different tests should not be made.
We have a detailed School-Wide Positive Behavioral Support (SWPBS) Program, created through a partnership grant with the Devereux Foundation and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Although the grant has expired, the program remains alive and active and is implemented with fidelity by all staff. The school-wide expectations are "respect yourself, respect others, and respect the school." It is our expectation that all students are treated fairly by staff members. Parent input is solicited and valued. We have a bilingual part-time school police officer who has built positive relationships with students and parents. We also have two deans of students who oversee the SWPBS leadership team, and who support the staff in the effective implementation of the discipline program. There is an on-site School Therapeutic Support Services Program provided by Northern Children's Services to students who demonstrate difficulty managing behavior. All of these measures have drastically improved the climate of the school. Potter-Thomas Promise Academy is now THE PLACE TO LEARN! How is the rating for School Incidents calculated? This rating represents the reportable incident count per 100 students. Reported suspensions and expulsions are not factored into the rating for School Incidents.
