Founded by Thomas E. Cahill in 1890 as the first free Catholic high school for boys in the nation, Roman Catholic continues its tradition of excellence as it strives to offer a comprehensive academic curriculum within a disciplined Catholic environment. 96% of Roman graduates further their education; 100% of graduates have a plan for their future. The Class of 2022 earned a record $31 million in college scholarships. Roman has a diverse student body representing 170 elementary schools and 90 different zip codes. College partnerships with La Salle, Drexel and CCP. Dual-enrollment opportunities during 11th and 12th grade as part of the Diocesan Scholars and Transformational Scholars Programs. Students have an opportunity to earn 18+ college credits before graduation. Middle States re-accreditation in 2017. 1 to 1 iPad Initiative. Basketball State Championships in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2021. Bowling won PCL title in 2017, 2019 and 2021. Soccer Team won PCL title in 2015 and City title in 2018. Mock Trial Team has won 8 consecutive City Titles and placed 2nd in the World in 2021. 17 Varsity Sports Programs.

Admissions Policy

The admissions process for students desiring entrance to 9th grade at Roman Catholic High School begins with the High School Placement Test (HSPT). Any student wishing to attend Roman Catholic is required to take the HSPT in the fall of their 8th grade year. Scholarships and placement are determined by this test. Following the HSPT, students will submit their standardized testing scores as well as 6th ,7th and 8th grade report cards and a teacher recommendation for review . Interviews are also held for a majority of applicants during the admissions process.
