Mission

The Philadelphia School is a coeducational, nonsectarian independent school educating children from preschool through 8th grade. Its mission, as a progressive school and vibrant learning community, is to educate the character and intellect of children. We want our students to become engaged citizens who are critical thinkers, creative problem solvers and lifelong learners.

Points Of Pride

TPS has a 7:1 student-teacher ratio. The school has extraordinary faculty, with 72% of teachers having advanced degrees.
TPS has a diverse student body: 38% of the student population are students of color.
TPS is situated in an urban setting and has a country classroom at the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education.
TPS offers a variety of opportunities for students. Students participate in a Spanish program from preschool through 8th grade. The school has a rich multimedia visual arts program and a robust vocal and instrumental music program, including a cappella, percussion and string ensembles.

Admissions Policy

Interested families must submit an application (available on the school website or the Apply Now link below). The admissions office will then schedule a parent/guardian meeting. The application process also includes submission of school records and teacher recommendations, as well as a student visit or attendance at a play day.
