Points Of Pride

  1. An overwhelming majority of Wissahickon Charter Awbury students are minorities (96%). A significant majority (84%) of current students are from low-income families.
  2. Students at WCS Awbury regularly spend time outdoors, whether it's in the backyard natural play-space or at the next door Awbury Arboretum.
  3. A variety of extracurricular activities are offered to Awbury students, including cooking classes with the Vetri Foundation's My Daughter's Kitchen program, boat building with the Philadelphia Waterborne, and beekeeping with the WCS Honey Helpers club.
  4. WCS Awbury was intentionally built on a former brownfield site and received the 2013 Extreme Makeover award at last year's PA Brownfields Conference as well as a $600K Industrial Sites Reuse grant from the PA Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED).
